Voter ID Being Looked At Again In Annapolis
Voter ID is once again being brought up in Annapolis. House Bill 192 seeks to establish legislation requiring that voter present identification each time they go to vote. Thirty-seven other states already require some form of ID for voting. There is flexibility in the kind of identification that can be presented from a driver’s license to utility bill or bank statement. Those against the bill says it would disenfranchise voters and could create barriers to some.
Moore Recognizes Western MD At BPW Meeting

Work Scheduled for Route 51, Vocke Road Exit
Drivers that use the Vocke Road exit off I-68 will have a detour on Monday and Tuesday, weather permitting. Westbound Exit 40 will be closed and detoured onto Alternate US 40 while crews perform brush removal and litter cleanup. The work will be done between 8am and 3pm both days. Similar work will also be performed along Route 51 between PPG Road and Malcolm Road – that work will go on throughout the month with flagging operations in place Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4pm.
Bill Introduced By Dems To Remove Lee Statue From Antietam Battlefield
Maryland’s Democratic Congressional representatives have introduced a bill to remove the statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee from the Antietam National Battlefield. A similar attempt in 2020 failed. Trone said he wants to ensure Antietam honors “our nation’s victory over the Confederacy rather than memorialize historical figures who fought to break up the Union and restrict fundamental human rights.” Congressman Jamie Raskin said it was “time to stop honoring Confederate traitors to the Union.”

Body Attachment Warrant
On Thursday, February 29th, 2024, the Cumberland City Police arrested Corbit Harry Arrowood Jr, 49, of Cumberland MD. Arrowood was arrested on a District Court Body Attachment issued on February 28th. The warrant was issued as a result of Arrowood failing to appear in District Court on February 28th. Cedar Street Burglary Arrest
On Thursday, February 29th, 2024, the Cumberland City Police responded to a vacant residence on S. Cedar St for the report of a burglary. Upon arrival on scene, officers observed a male subject exiting through an open window. It was then determined that the male suspect had never lived there nor did he have permission to be on the property. As a result, William Morgan Stewart Sr, 41, of Cumberland MD, was placed under arrest. Bench Warrants Served
On Thursday, February 29th, 2024, the Cumberland City Police arrested Jeremy Michael Dahl, 30, of Cumberland MD. Dahl was arrested on an active Bench Warrant issued by the Allegany County District Court on February 12th. The warrant alleges Dahl Failed to Comply with an order of the court that stemmed from a previous 4th degree burglary charge. Dahl was taken before a District Court Commissioner for his Initial Appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held without bond.
