More Flights South From Hagerstown
Hagerstown Regional Airport has announced additions to its summer flight schedule to Orlando-Sanford and St. Pete-Clearwater. Flights will now take place three days a week as well as expanded service through November to Myrtle Beach and service in October and November to St. Pete-Clearwater. The flights mark a significant expansion, with a 20% increase in available flights compared to the previous year of 2023. This new schedule represents a new air service peak for HGR, with summer flights reaching ten per week.

Attorney General Brown Announces Major Arrests In Baltimore Violence
Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced charges against six individuals, including two juveniles, on multiple criminal counts, including participation in a criminal gang, first degree murder, armed carjacking, armed robbery, assault, burglary, and firearm related charges. Brown made the announcement at a press conference Tuesday in Baltimore… All of those charged are under the age of 21. Two youths under 18 are being handled through the juvenile court system. Brown said arresting those who caused such a crime spree should help victims feel peace…

The National Parks Action Fund announced that Congressman David Trone (D-MD) earned an ‘A’ rating – scoring 100% – on the organization’s 2024 Congressional Scorecard. Paramedics Learn Emergency Intubation
Several paramedics in Allegany County now have the ability to perform Rapid Sequence Intubation, a specialized procedure that allows clinicians to quickly and safely give sedatives and paralytics to patients facing serious medical emergencies or injuries. RSI helps them insert a breathing tube for a secure airway, enhancing critical emergency care in the region. This service is available from the EMS Supervisor's truck, ensuring that critical interventions can be given promptly by trained personnel. Allegheny Wood Products Closes Unexpectedly
A second blow in as many weeks has hit West Virginia’s economy. Allegheny Wood Products with locations including Kingwood, Moorefield, and Petersburg, abruptly closed last Friday, leaving up to 900 people out of work. Over 500 were regular employees of the hardwood company while others were contractors. AWP had been trying to sell the company in recent months. Last week, the Cleveland Cliffs Tin plant in Weirton closed, leaving almost 1000 people unemployed.
McKay Withdraws Canal Place Legislation
The controversial Senate Bill 1070 that would reorganize Canal Place has been withdrawn by Senator Mike McKay. The Senator sent a letter to the concerned parties thanking them for their input. The letter also says he intends to prefile the legislation again in the 2025 General Assembly session after crafting amendments with stakeholders.
