The Cumberland Mayor and City Council received strong criticism this past summer when a nearly ten percent tax increase was approved as part of the budget. On a more positive note, the city’s reserve fund has been restored to a much healthier position than it was just a few years ago. In 2011 the city found itself with a reserve fund deficit of $1.5 million.
