U.S. Senator Ben Cardin recently met with Western Maryland community leaders, health care professionals, education representatives, social workers and law enforcement- with combating the national epidemic of heroin and opioid addiction a focal point of those discussions. During a two day swing through Allegany and Garrett counties Senator Cardin talked about the need to reverse the uptick in heroin- and opioid-related deaths in communities across the state.
