With the shock of the FEMA denial for flood relief funds starting to wear off, the communities of Lonaconing and Westernport still face cleanup and restoration. Mayor Jack Coburn of Lonaconing recently said that he’s still very concerned with meeting certain needs of families in his area…
“My biggest concern is people who don’t have furnaces in place yet. It’s 38 degrees up here this morning and the winter months are approaching quicker for them. And then they have to get them, have them installed. It’s not just a matter of minutes process, it’s a long term process.”
Senator Mike McKay says the Western Maryland delegation will be going to Annapolis for help from the General Assembly, hopefully with the support of Governor Moore who has seen the damage…
“Now it’s time for the State of Maryland and Governor Moore to stick by his words – I think he will – to find the $34 million dollars from the State of Maryland and the Rainy Day Fund is the perfect place to take that from.”
