Bill Drafted To Combat Heroin Addiction

Gov. Larry Hogan announced plans recently to combat heroin addiction with a bill drafted to help accomplish the goal. The bill, all modeled on the Heroin Task Force recommendations, was to be formally introduced to the General Assembly last week. Lt Governor Boyd Rutherford headed the task force and conducted town hall meetings across the state, including western Maryland. He tells WCBC News that the goal has been to  to reverse a spike in heroin use, overdose deaths and related crime across the state. He acknowledged that rural areas such as Allegany County lack an adequate number of facilities necessary to deal with the growing problem…
