Bishop Walsh School Reports COVID Exposure

September 25th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

Bishop Walsh School has sent a letter to families saying that a 12th grade student has tested positive for COVID-19, but was not in the window of being contagious while in the school building.

According to the letter, the school was notified on September 15th that the 12th grader, and an 8th grader, were identified as close contacts of a person outside of school who had received a positive COVID-19 test notification.

The 12th grade student had been in compliance with the safety protocols required by the school, which include wearing a face mask.  The student was also socially distanced from other classmates, and had not attended class since September 11th.

Bishop Walsh has been in contact with officials of the Archdiocese of Baltimore and Allegany County Health Department.  The student remains in quarantine, and parents have been encouraged to monitor the health of their children for signs of coronavirus out of an abundance of caution.

When asked for additional comment by WCBC, a school administrator said she was not authorized to add anything to what was already in print.
