Board of Education Discusses Audit

For 90 minutes on Tuesday night, the Allegany County Board of Education discussed in detail each of the 17 findings revealed in a state legislative audit of the board’s financial operations. The audit, released publicly last month, identified what were determined to be problems with the system- and offered recommendations to address them. From day one, the board members and administrative have expressed frustration with the audit- emphasizing that a finding isn’t necessarily a negative- but rather a different opinion garnered by a group of individuals who had no background in education fiscal administration.
