CEDC Updates Proposed Ideas for Downtown Boutique Hotel

Cumberland Economic Development Corporation executive director Paul Kelly announced Tuesday that a building on the downtown mall is close to being purchased-  and plans to convert it into a boutique hotel are now moving forward.  An update on renovations proposed from the downtown pedestrian mall south through the Maryland Avenue corridor during the regular monthly meeting held at Allegany College of Maryland.  The CEDC is working on plans to revitalize Cumberland,  including connecting its prime attractions — like the bike trails, Canal Place and the pedestrian mall — to the central transportation points in the city.  Proposed ideas include a 48-room boutique hotel in the former M&T Bank building on the downtown mall- and Kelly reported details on the transaction..
