City Police Issue Robbery, Theft & Assault Charges

On August 22, 2015 at 2:46 PM, Officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 500 block of Baltimore Ave. for an assault. Officers initially arrived on the scene and spoke to a witness. The witness advised that the victim and suspect Gerald Moore where arguing in an upstairs room. She further advised that she heard a thud, and then Moore ran out of the residence with the victim giving chase.

Officers where then able to locate Moore and the victim on Yale St., and began investigating the complaint. They first spoke to the victim who advised that she and Moore were involved in an argument. Moore then struck the her in the face and forcibly took her cell phone. The victim explained that Moore then fled and she gave chase. When she caught up with Moore, he grabbed her around the throat, slammed her down, and began choking her. Officers found injuries on the victim consistent with her events of the incident. They further were able to retrieve her phone which was thrown by Moore during the altercation.

Due to the investigation, Moore was arrested. He was then transported the Cumberland Police Department where he was processed. Moore was later taken to the Allegany County Detention Center awaiting an Initial Appearance in District court.

Charges: Robbery, 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault, and Theft less than $100

Arrested: Gerald A. Moore Age:25 Cumberland, MD
