CPD Makes Assault Arrest & Serves Warrants

On Sunday, December 23rd, 2018 the Cumberland Police Department responded to the area of the Union Rescue Mission on Queen City Pavement for the report of an intoxicated male wielding a knife.  Upon arrival, contact was made with two individuals that claimed that had a confrontation with Cletus Conrad Hill over some stolen property. They stated that during the argument, Hill pulled out a knife and started swinging it at them.  Both were in fear of their safety and one of the individuals alleged that Hill actually was struck them with the knife but they were not injured. Hill was located shortly after and arrested. He was charged with 1st degree assault, 2nd degree assault, reckless endangerment, and carry a dangerous weapon with intent to injure.  Hill was taken before the District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center held without bond.

Warrant Service

On Sunday, December 23rd, 2018 the Cumberland Police Department served several arrest warrants on Paul William Thomas Goetz:

  1. District Court warrant was served for Goetz failing to register as a sex offender that was issued on November 8th, 2018.

  1. District Court warrant was served for (4) counts of credit card fraud, and theft charges.  On October 11th, 2018 an investigation was conducted by the Cumberland Police Department and concluded that Goetz stole the victim’s credit card and used it several times at a local convenience store.

  1. Two additional warrants were used as detainers; Circuit Court violation of probation and a Division of Corrections parole retake warrant.

Goetz was taken before the District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center held without bond.
