Cumberland Woman Sentenced For Child Abuse

The Office of the State’s Attorney for Allegany County, Maryland, Michael O. Twigg, State’s Attorney, announced: On Tuesday, March 19, 2019, the Honorable Jeffrey Getty, Judge of the Circuit Court for Allegany County, Maryland, sentenced Teresa Marie Martin, 62, of Cumberland, Maryland, to ten (10) years’ incarceration within the Division of Corrections, seven (7) of which were suspended; for a total period of three (3) years actual incarceration within the Department of Corrections. The sentence was the result of Martin’s guilty plea to charges of Second Degree Child Abuse.  Upon release Ms. Martin will be on five (5) years of supervised probation.  Prosecuting the case for the State was Assistant State’s Attorney Samuel Lane; Ms. Martin was represented by Stephen R. Friend, Esq.
