Disturbance at Mission

On Friday, the Cumberland Police Department responded to the Union Rescue Mission for the report of an intoxicated male causing a disturbance.  When officers arrived, contact was made with the male that was identified as George William Bever.  Bever was intoxicated on a public sidewalk and while speaking with officers, he attempted to consume an alcoholic beverage.   Officers told Bever that he could not consume alcohol on public property or he could be arrested.  Bever ignored the officer’s warning and attempted to consume the alcohol anyhow.  He was arrested and charged with Failure to obey a lawful order.  Bever was issued a criminal citation was released pending trial

 

Later on, Officers again were dispatched to the Union Rescue Mission for the report of another intoxicated male that was staggering onto CSX property.  When officers arrived, Gary Lee Smith was found to be intoxicated and had falling down on the CSX owned railroad tracks.  He was arrested for trespassing and disorderly conduct.  Smith was issued criminal citations and released pending trial.
