Eckhart woman found unharmed

Deputies of the Allegany County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to Coon Club Rd. in Eckhart for a woman lost in the woods. Susan Elizabeth Ray, age 68, of Amyti, Pennsyvania had taken her rotweiller and two jack russel dogs into a remote area of Piney Mountain for a walk and became lost. She and her husband were in town for the dog show at the Fairgrounds. Deputies arrived and searched where a 4 wheel drive would allow but did not locate her. Natural Resource Officer Kurt Deterlie and his K9 "Blu" were requested and he responded. Trooper 5 was requested and also responded. Members of Savage Mountain Hunting Club, Piney Mountain Hunting Club, and numerous civilians joined in the search. K9 "Blu" tracked her for nearly 6 miles and Trooper 5 had to return to the hanger to refuel during the search.She and her dogs were found unharmed about near Woodcock Hollow Rd. in Mt. Savage. Mt. Savage ambulance responded to render aid.
