Efforts Ongoing On New Allegany High School Front

Efforts are ongoing on several levels on the new Allegany High School front. The Board of Education this week received a report from facilities director Vince Montana regarding preparations to raze the former Sacred Heart Hospital to make way for a new school. The process has been somewhat hampered by the extensive asbestos removal and abatement work that is expected to continue another four to six weeks. Two members of Allegany High School’s faculty, Larry Jackson and Sally Buser, have joined the design committee as they continue to hammer out the floor plans of the new school with architects Grimm & Parker of Calverton. Montana said that at the suggestion of Superintendent David Cox, part of the process will now include site visits to some of the newer high schools in the state…
