Flood Warning Posted For Allegany, Mineral & Hampshire Counties

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
  Allegany County in western Maryland...
  Mineral County in eastern West Virginia...
  Central Hampshire County in eastern West Virginia...

* Until 800 PM EST Saturday.

* At 1102 AM EST, Doppler radar indicated moderate to heavy rainfall
  with rainfall amounts around 1 to 2 inches for most areas. Rain
  will continue through tonight with additional amounts around 1 to
  2 inches. Creeks and streams will continue to rise out of their
  banks during this time.

* Patterson creek in Headsville continues to rise toward flood stage
  of 9 feet. At 9 feet, water affects basements of homes along the
  creek. Foreback Road and Georges Run both begin to flood as well
  as agricultural areas between Champwood and Fort Ashby.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
  Cumberland, Frostburg, Keyser, Westernport, Romney, Bel Air, Paw
  Paw, La Vale, Fort Ashby, Lonaconing, Piedmont, Elk Garden,
  Kitzmiller, Ridgeley, Cresaptown, Potomac Park, Wiley Ford, Eckhart
  Mines, Mount Savage and Rawlings.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
