Kathy Getty Named to CEDC Board

The Cumberland Economic Development Corporation is pleased to announce that Katherine W. Getty will be joining the Board of Directors in the beginning of 2021. Ms. Getty serves as Director of Business Relationships for First United Bank and Trust where she works closely with business clients to provide financial services and expertise.

Ms. Getty will be taking Barry Ronan’s position on the Board, as he retires from his post as President of UPMC Western Maryland after more than 30 years of leadership and contributions to the Cumberland Community. “We are pleased to have Kathy Getty joining our dynamic board of local business leaders,” said Cumberland Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Matt Miller. “We thank Barry Ronan for his leadership as we navigated many CEDC projects and priorities, many of which are currently reinvigorating our City’s economy. We are excited to have Kathy’s voice on our Board given her deep ties with our local businesses and economic drivers.”

Ms. Getty has an extensive history of economic development and community involvement, including serving as past Chairman of the City of Cumberland Economic Development Commission and past Chairman of The Greater Cumberland Committee. In recognition of her community involvement and leadership, Ms. Getty has received several awards and honors including Volunteer of the Year by County United Way, the Henrietta Schwarzenbach Civic Service Memorial Award from Dapper Dan, and she was named one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women by The Daily Record and the Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club of Cumberland. She also received the Community Caring Award from the United Way of Allegany County, “The Greater Good Award” from the The Greater Cumberland Committee, served as the WalkAmerica Chair for the March of Dimes and is a graduate of Leadership Maryland.

Ms. Getty resides in Cumberland with her husband, the Honorable Jeffrey S. Getty, Judge for the Allegany County Circuit Court, 4th Judicial Circuit.
