Power Outage UPDATE

November 28th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

County fire and EMS units remain steady with calls Thursday morning, according to emergency service officials.

“Our Joint Communications Center handled 111 calls for service overnight…the majority of those calls related to or made worse by the windy conditions,” Lt. Todd Bowman, public information officer for Allegany County Department of Emergency Services said. “Units have been out on trees and lines down, in addition to numerous brush fires.”

Allegany County units have assisted neighboring counties with brush fires overnight, Bowman added. These calls for assistance continued Thursday.

“DES personnel continue to aid allied agencies, fire departments, law enforcement, state and county roads,” Bowman said. “Increased call volume has continued through mid-morning Thursday.”

FirstEnergy reports that approximately 1,300 residents in Allegany County are without power Thursday.

The U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) wind advisory continues through 1 p.m. today.

“We will continue to monitor the situation throughout the day,” Bowman said. “Please keep your local first responders in your thoughts today as they are away from their families.”
