School System Feeling Effects Of Reduced Staff

In the past three years, to address growing budget issues- the Allegany County Board of Education has reduced personnel by more than 150 positions. Those reductions in staffing are now starting to be felt in the schools according to board member Mike Llewellyn. During this week’s budget meeting, Llewellyn said dropping positions through attrition proved to be an efficient fiscal approach for the first few years with little negative impact- however with 150 positions gone, responsibilities are expanding and staff- including teachers- are feeling the stress…
