On Thursday at approximately 6:17 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police McHenry Barrack, were dispatched to a single vehicle accident involving an overturned tractor trailer on Interstate 68 at the 17 mile marker. Investigation revealed Vehicle 1 was traveling Eastbound on Interstate 68 in lane 2 when for unknown reasons the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle subsequently overturned. The vehicle was blocking all lanes of traffic. The driver was identified as Selam Sharew. The driver refused any medical treatment. Responding agencies included Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department, Accident Volunteer Fire Department, Grantsville Truck and Trailer, State Highway Administration and Northern Garrett Rescue Squad. All lanes of eastbound Interstate 68 were closed for several hours as a result of the collision.
