Western Maryland Railroad Features New Attraction

The newest attraction for the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad is 1949 steam locomotive obtained from the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore for use at the scenic railroad based in Cumberland. The 217-ton locomotive was one of the last steam engines commercially made by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia. Known as C&O steam locomotive No. 1309, it is being restored and  placed into service on the scenic railroad’s excursion between Cumberland and Frostburg.
