Cumberland Police Arrest Report

On Friday, January 27th, 2023, The Cumberland City Police served Abigayle Louise Colleen Hartman, 25, of Cumberland MD, with a criminal summons. The summons was issued in reference to a motor vehicle crash that occurred on December 22nd, 2022 in the 300 block of N. Centre St. During that incident, it is alleged that Hartman and the other driver exchanged vehicle information after the crash. It was later discovered that Hartman’s vehicle did not have valid insurance at the time of the crash. As a result, an application for charges was filed and a criminal summons issued by the Allegany…

Fort Ashby man Fugitive from Justice arrest

On Friday, January 27th, 2023, The Cumberland City Police arrested Gregory Shawn Robinette, 44, of Fort Ashby WV. Robinette was arrested when officers responded to the area of Queen City Pavement for the report of a disturbance. During the incident, it was discovered that Robinette had two active arrest warrants in Mineral County WV for felony absconding. Robinette was then placed under arrest for being a fugitive from justice and transported to Police Headquarters for processing. Maryland lawmakers make gun control a session priority

The General Assembly is making gun control a priority this year, after the U.S. Supreme Court in June struck down gun permit restrictions similar to Maryland’s. The Gun Safety Act of 2023 is speeding through the legislative process with a second hearing scheduled for Feb. 7, and at least two other bills are pending. The act, SB 0001, is expected to cause heated debate. Sen. Jeff Waldstreicher, D-Montgomery, and then Sen. Susan Lee, D-Montgomery, who recently was appointed secretary of state, sponsored the bill. Senate bill would change frequency of W.Va. vehicle inspections

West Virginia residents may see some relief in how often they need to get their vehicles inspected. After many previous attempts to change the requirement to get an inspection sticker each year, a bill is advancing to have inspections once every two years. Senate Bill 254 was on its first reading Wednesday. Gov. Moore is about to shake up the Public Service Commission

With a single, swift personnel move this week, Gov. Wes Moore (D) may have done more to advance Maryland’s battle against climate change than volumes of legislation or months of advocacy ever could.  That’s the optimistic view of many environmentalists after Moore announced Wednesday that he was rescinding 48 recess appointments to state boards and commissions that his predecessor, former Gov. Gov. Moore addressed mental and behavioral health services in Baltimore

Gov. Wes Moore traveled to Baltimore on Friday to talk about supporting services that address mental health.
