According to Allegany County Emergency Services, at approximately 2:30pm, this afternoon (Wednesday), Frederick Street was closed at Marshall Street due to a multi-vehicle accident. Criminal Summons Served
On Wednesday May 24th, 2023 officers of the Cumberland Police Department served a Criminal Summons on David Plues. The Criminal Summons stemmed from a motor vehicle crash that occurred on May 20th, 2023 on West Industrial Boulevard. During the incident officers responded to a single vehicle crash and upon arrival located no operator for the vehicle. Information was obtained that the operator of the vehicle had fled into the wooded area after the crash and after searching the area the operator was not located. The company has back-tracked its decision to take the AM band out of new cars after Bipartisan lawmakers introduced a bill to require the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to require AM radio in all new vehicles at no cost. Cam Hein was the top award winner at Bishop Walsh Athletic Awards night Wednesday evening. Hein won the Rapplier Award as the top male student-athlete. He also was soccer MVP and most outstanding in boys tennis. Four new inductees into the Western Maryland Catholic Athletic Hall of Fame were Tom Perlozzo, Danny Wood, Mitzi McGreevy, and Lara Groetzinger.
