Ariana Herrera top award winner at Bishop Walsh Athletic Awards Night
Ariana Herrera was the top award winner at Bishop Walsh Athletic Awards Night Wednesday evening. Herrera won the Dr. Leo H. Ley Award for top female student athlete. She was MVP in cheerleading, won the Coaches Award in soccer, and garnered Defensive Player of the Year in softball. Autumn Hoppert was MVP in soccer, basketball, volleyball, and tennis.
Educator Bruce May Passes at 87
Longtime educator Bruce May passed away at the age of 87 on May 20th at UPMC Western Maryland. May taught in the Allegany County school system beginning in 1960, retiring as Principal at Fort Hill High School in 1993. During his career in education, May was a key in the development of the Outdoor School program as well as the extensive renovation project at Fort Hill. Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home in Hyndman on Friday, starting at Noon with a funeral service at 2pm.

Four suspects have now been arrested as a result of continued investigation into the shooting incident which occurred on College Avenue in Frostburg early Sunday morning, May 7th, that resulted in five gunshot victims, and the death of twenty year old Alexander Ramon Redondo. Twenty-one year old Benjamin Laurent Atyam, a Frostburg State University student from Capitol Heights, MD, was arrested without incident on campus Tuesday afternoon by the Frostburg State University Police, after a warrant had been issued for his arrest.
