Comments by outgoing Allegany County School Board member Deb Frank suggesting that some candidates for the board are using scare tactics as part of their campaign- has drawn some reaction. Seemingly undaunted by a new public opinion poll, Republican state Delegate Dan Cox said his gubernatorial bid is “within striking distance” of his main rival, Democrat Wes Moore. The poll was released just days before the two men squared off in a debate Wednesday hosted by Maryland Public Television. Great Allegheny Passage GAP Relay this weekend

WHAT: The GAP Relay presented by UPMC Health Plan will test the grit of teams of four to eight runners by challenging them to run a two-day, non-stop relay. During this epic adventure, teams will start the race in Cumberland, Md., run the 150-mile Great Allegheny Passage and then cross the finish line in Pittsburgh. In addition, there’s a one-day 40-mile adventure race that starts in Whitsett for teams of two to eight. Three ACPS Students Win Scholarships at Tri-State College Night

On Tuesday, Allegany College of Maryland hosted the annual Tri-State College Night.  More than 60 colleges, universities, technical schools and branches of the military were on hand to help parents and students make educated decisions about post-secondary plans. Additionally, more than 100 area high school students and parents attended this year’s event.               Four high school students attending the event were the recipients of various scholarships totaling $2,200.  Sophia Sensabaugh, a senior at Fort Hill High School, and Tate Humbertson, a senior at the Career Center, were the winners of $750 scholarships. Maryland surpasses 500,000 COVID shots administered

More than 500,000 Marylanders have received their COVID-19 primary vaccines and booster shots from their family doctors via the Maryland Department of Health’s (MDH) Maryland Primary Care Program’s (MDPCP) Vaccine Program. Cumberland Police Arrest Report

On October 11th, 2022, The Cumberland City Police responded to a residence in the 700 block of Baker St for the report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers contacted the subjects involved. It was learned that a verbal altercation broke out in the home between two subjects, including Tammy Lynn Johnson, 57.  The altercation turned physical and it is alleged that Johnson attacked the victim, striking them multiple times causing minor injuries. As a result, Johnson was placed under arrest for assault. It was also learned at that time that Johnson also had an active warrant issued for her arrest….

Two Men on Frederick Street Arrested for Assault

On October 11th, 2022, The Cumberland City Police responded to 300 block of Frederick St for the report of a disturbance. Upon arrival on scene, officers located two subjects involved in a verbal altercation in view of the public. The two subjects were identified as Javas Chayton Bohrer, 21, and Kerri Anne Bohrer, 49, both of Cumberland, Maryland. At that time both subjects were advised to cease any further disturbances and leave the area. Approximately one hour later, Officers were on patrol in the same area of Frederick St when they observed both individuals engaging in a public physical altercation….
