Bill O'Reilly's new program, "No Spin News," will debut tonight on WCBC following the news at 10 PM. After leaving his top rated Fox TV program in 2017, O'Reilly began digitally streaming a video version of No Spin News.  In May 2017, O'Reilly began to appear as a recurring guest on Friday editions of the Glenn Beck Radio Program. 

Police Make Assault Arrest

On Sunday, May 1, 2022 at approximately 8:54 AM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the area of Baltimore Street at N. Waverly Terrace for a possible assault in progress.  A witness had observed a male pursuing a female on foot and the male tackled the female to the ground.  Upon their arrival, police located a male standing next to a female who was sitting on the curb.  The male was identified as Gerald Kimmell.  Police officers observed that both subjects appeared to have been in a physical altercation.  The subjects were separated and interviewed.  The female reported…

Morriss Remains Hopeful on Construction of Downtown Renovations

City officials voted last month to accept $6.3 million in state grant assistance for renovations to the downtown mall.  The funding is being issued through the Maryland State Highway Administration's Transportation Alternative Program to cover the reinstallation of Baltimore Street through the pedestrian mall. Baltimore Street extended through the downtown city center before the area was bricked over in 1977 to create a pedestrian mall. The funding represents a large portion of the project's estimated $10 million cost. Cardin and Van Hollen Announce Release of 35K Visas

U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen, both Maryland Democrats have announced that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will release an additional 35,000 H-2B temporary non-agricultural worker visas for the second half of fiscal year 2022. These visas are vital to the small businesses that make up Maryland’s crab and seafood industries, and the supplemental release follows efforts from the Senators to press DHS to provide more visas after only one of Maryland’s ten crab processors was selected to receive them. County Makes Note of Services Provided to Municipalities

The subject of tax differential has always been a tricky one between the city of Cumberland and Allegany County. The differential is a rebate on property taxes town residents pay the county for services like emergency management; libraries; the health department and animal control. Construction of Clarysville Bridge Fencing Begins

It took a few years, but fencing began going up this past week along the Clarysville Bridge. Hoping to reduce incidents of suicide at the bridge that crosses Vale Summit Road- Delegate Mike McKay introduced legislation last year seeking action in the General Assembly to address the escalating number of suicides, and attempted suicides, by installing fencing at the bridge on Interstate 68 between LaVale and Frostburg.  The hope is that the barriers will act as a deterrent.
