No potential threat at Cresaptown Elementary School
Allegany County Public Schools Public Information Officer, Mia Cross on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, posted that a threat was received at Cresaptown Elementary School. Law enforcement was contacted, and the threat was investigated. It has been determined that there is no danger to staff or students at this time as a result of this incident. There will be an increased police presence at the school tomorrow morning as a precaution.

West Virginia University lifts mask requirements in classrooms
West Virginia University is lifting COVID-19 mask requirements in its classrooms and labs regardless of a person's vaccination status. The university said in a news release that the change is effective Tuesday. Last month WVU lifted a mask requirement in most indoor spaces. Active virus cases statewide have fallen below 2,000 for the first time since last July, according to the state Department of Health and Human Resources' COVID-19 dashboard. Change regarding parking at the Center City Parking Garage on George Street
The Cumberland Police Department would like to notify the public of a change regarding parking at the Centre City Parking Garage on George Street. The changes being made are in regards to a problem with the current system that is in place. Starting April 1, 2022, vehicles entering the Centre City Parking Garage will enter the garage from South George Street. Greene Street Traffic Stop Nets CDS Arrest
On Monday, March 7th 2022 an officer with the Cumberland Police conducted a traffic stop on Greene St. The operator displayed several criminal indicators and the officer called for K9 to respond to the scene. The K9 alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle and a search was conducted. The officer located a quantity of methamphetamines and controlled prescription medication.
