Wilson Road Fire Deemed Accidental
An early Sunday morning fire on Wilson Road in Oldtown caused over $100,000 in damages to a home. The homeowner awakened when their dog began to behave oddly and then observed flames at the rear of the residence. A smoke alarm also activated. The occupant fled the residence and called 911. Forty-five firefighters took half an hour to control the blaze. The Maryland State Fire Marshal reports that embers from a portable fire pit ignited combustibles and dry vegetation under the rear deck which then ignited the wooden deck and spread to the structure.
Bill Clinton to Campaign for Harris in Johnstown Tuesday
Former President Bill Clinton will visit Johnstown Tuesday as the Cambria County town continues to host major political figures. Donald Trump and Kamala Harris have also campaigned in Johnstown this year as Pennsylvania is seen as the ultimate swing state in this year's election. The exact site of Clinton's visit has yet to be confirmed.

Water Service Disruption – South Cumberland
Water service will be interrupted on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to tie in the new main on King Street and Lexington Avenue. The areas affected include King Street from Lafayette Avenue to Lexington Avenue, Lexington Avenue from King Street to W. Mary Street, W. Elder Street from Lexington Avenue to Lafayette Avenue, and W. Offutt Street from Lexington Avenue to Lafayette.
Two Dead in Bedford County Crash
Two passengers were killed Sunday night on Route 30 near Bedford. The Lincoln Highway crash involved a a 1999 Honda which struck an embankment and caused the two backseat passengers to be ejected from the vehicle. They were pronounced dead at the scene. A front seat passenger was not ejected but the driver was taken to Conemaugh Hospital for suspected minor injuries. No one in the vehicle wore seatbelts.

Michael Eugene Delilo, 48 of Rawlings, was served two (2) District Court Bench warrants for Failure to Appear (FTA) for Violating Protective Orders. Delilo was released on his own recognizance from Central Booking. Austin Damon Thornton, 29 of Cumberland, was served a District Court Bench Warrant for Violation of Probation (VOP). His original conviction was for Driving Motor Vehicle on Highway Without Required License and Authorization where he was sentenced to a suspended 60-day jail term with 12-months of Unsupervised Probation. Behavioral Treatment Center Opens
A new outpatient behavioral health treatment center has opened on Industrial Boulevard near UPMC Urgent Care to help individuals suffering from substance abuse and mental health issues. Concerted Care Group now has eight locations across Maryland and Delaware. Traffic Changes Set For Halloween Parade on Wednesday
Several streets in South Cumberland will be closed for the Annual Halloween Parade on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. The parade is set to begin at 7:00 p.m., but street closures and detours will start earlier. Starting at 5:30 p.m., the following areas and streets, including alleys leading to them, will be closed: Virginia Avenue, East First Street from Virginia Avenue to Wempe Drive, South Street, Pennsylvania Avenue, Seymour Street, Grand Avenue, East Second Street, and East Third Street. Hagerstown Airport Receives Grant For Expansion
Hagerstown Regional Airport has been awarded a $5.25 million dollar grant from the Federal Aviation Administration under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The grant will enable the airport to expand its terminal by no less than 20%, accommodating future growth and enhancing operations for air carriers and passengers. The project will enhance efficiency and provide space to support the current airline and any future air carriers. The expansion add more ticketing counters, expanded passenger queuing areas, and additional space for leasing.
Cumberland Police Seek Suspects In Stabbing
On Sunday October 27 at 10:20 PM Cumberland Police Officers responded to the 300 block of Springdale Street in Cumberland for a report of a suspicious person in an alley. Upon arrival they discovered a 34-year-old male victim who was suffering from stab wounds. Responding officers rendered aid and the Cumberland Fire Department responded. The victim was found to have significant injuries and was transported to UPMC for treatment. After investigation it was determined that the victim was attacked by several people brandishing weapons.
