Reward Offered For Information on Homicide

The Cumberland City Police is seeking information about the death of Todd Adams, aka "Peg Leg."  Mr. Adams was known to frequent the downtown area and walked with a prosthetic leg. County Budget Status

Allegany County’s fiscal year 2025 budget is still struggling, according to the latest status report.  The County Commissioners met last week to look at county budget.  The county started the fiscal year with a $283,000 gap that has now grown to over $3 million. An ongoing issue has been overtime in Emergency Services that is $760,000 over budget. Public Meeting Scheduled on City’s Wayfinding Plan

Public input is needed for the City of Cumberland’s upcoming wayfinding plan. Merje Design is developing a navigational system for the city to help travelers orient themselves in the area.  Merje has also done plans for Frederick and Annapolis.  A public meeting on January 9 at 1pm in City Hall will review preliminary findings. Shrine of SS Peter and Paul on Fayette Street hosted a Christmas Concert featuring organ solos Nate Berry playing a Wicks Pipe Organ installed in 1958. It is the largest of its kind east of the Mississippi and features 1,900 speaking pipes.  Cantor Josh Ruppenkamp lead hymns, and John Hershberger presented the story of the song Silent Night. John also played guitar and sing the song in German. Cumberland Police continue to probe death of Todd Adams

The Cumberland Police and the C3I Unit continue to probe the death of 42-year-old Todd Adams who was found deceased in the Frederick Street parking garage on December 22, 2024. The victim, Todd Adams, was known to the local area and frequented the downtown Cumberland area, particularly the resources catering to the homeless population.  Mr. Adams was well known downtown and was noticeable due to having a prosthetic leg.  We are particularly interested in talking to anyone who was with him or observed him walking downtown Saturday prior to the discovery of his death, Sunday at 1:30 am.
