National Move Over Day

The Maryland Department of State Police, Maryland Department of Transportation, and the Maryland Transportation Authority urge motorists to remember the importance of moving over for vehicles and individuals on the side of the road ahead of National Move Over Day on Saturday, October 19. Maryland’s Move Over Law requires drivers to move over or slow down when approaching any stopped, standing or parked vehicle displaying warning signals, such as hazard lights, road flares, traffic cones or other emergency signals. The law is designed to protect all motorists traveling on Maryland roads. 

West Virginia’s early voting in-person period begins Wednesday, October 23

Registered West Virginia voters wanting to participate in the November General Election will be given the opportunity to vote early and in person starting on Wednesday, October 23. According to WV Secretary of State Mac Warner, West Virginia offers 10 days of early voting, including two Saturdays, between October 23 and November 2. Early voting takes place in each county courthouse or annex in all 55 counties. Additionally, some counties offer community voting locations throughout the county. Volleyball Falls to Golden Eagles in Road Match

Frostburg State Volleyball team fell 3-0 in a road sweep to Charleston on Friday evening. After being gifted a pair of points by UC due to a pair of errors, FSU quickly found themselves behind 4-2, but three combined kills from junior Amanda Knieper and senior AJ Thompson brought them back to a 6-6 tie. Minor Accident Involving an ACPS Bus

Today, October 18, 2024, there was a minor vehicle accident involving an Allegany County Public School Bus.  Maryland State Police responded. There were no injuries reported. Bus drop off times will be delayed 30-45 minutes.

Virginia Avenue Theft arrest

On 10/17/2024 at approximately 6:30 AM the Cumberland City Police were dispatched to a business in the 400 block of Virginia Avenue for a theft complaint. Upon arrival the manager advised Logan Frye had stolen several items and fled the scene. The manager and officer had previously advised Frye he was no longer allowed at the business. The officer located Frye a short distance away and placed him under arrest. Frye was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center for central booking. Frye received a hearing before a District Court Commissioner and was held on a $1,000.00 bond. Logan Reece…
