Garrett Arrest Uncovers Drugs

Garrett County Sheriff’s deputies made a traffic stop on Tuesday along Bray School Road for multiple traffic violations.  As a result of the stop and investigation, Jerry Welch, 30 years old, of Oakland, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, fleeing and eluding, and other violations.

Faculty Points To Financial Aid “Debacle” As Part of Issues With President

The teaching faculty of Frostburg State University are becoming more vocal since the no-confidence vote they returned for President Ron Nowaczyk in late September.  The number of faculty has reduced by 75 since 2017, many positions remaining open after retirements. CROP Walk This Weekend

There should be good weather for those participating Sunday in the 53rd Annual CROP Walk on the Great Allegheny Passage. The three-mile walk has been a mainstay in raising funds for local food bank programs. George Washington Headquarters arrests

On Thursday, October 10th, 2024, officers with the Cumberland City Police Department conducted increased patrols in the area of George Washington Headquarters and the Western Maryland Train Station due to multiple citizen complaints and reports of nuisances to the public. Arch Street Burglary arrest

On Thursday, October 10th, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department responded to a vacant residence in the 400 block of Arch St for the report of a breaking and entering. Once on scene, officers observed a male subject inside the property and made contact with him. The subject advised he was the owner and was currently renovating the property. Property records were searched and it was determined that the subject neither owned, nor had permission to be on the property.
