Ocean City Continues to Fight Offshore Wind Project

Ocean City Maryland officials continue to push back against the proposed offshore wind farm planned for the coast off the state.  The Maryland Department of the Environment issued an air quality permit for the project, one of the last things needed to go ahead with construction that would place 100 turbines off the coast of Maryland. Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan said in a statement that MDE is ignoring every shred of feedback offered by those who will be directly involved if this poorly conceived and potentially disastrous offshore wind project is allowed to move forward.

Bel Air Residents To Meet With Commissioners This Evening

Residents of Bel Air will be meeting with the Allegany County Commissioners during this evening's meeting to address the ongoing water utility costs. DISORDERLY CONDUCT ARREST

On Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at approximately 10:59 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 400 block of Pine Avenue for a disturbance.  Officers arrived and contacted the parties involved.  One of the subjects who was identified as Elisha Broadway was uncooperative and refused to listen to officers’ orders.  When police attempted to arrest Broadway, he pulled away from the officers and resisted arrest.  Officers were able to take Broadway into custody after a brief struggle.    Broadway was transported to Central Booking and later seen by a District Court Commissioner for a bond hearing.  At the…

West Virginia Looking at Electricity Reserve

As Americans continue to be concerned with energy supply and prices, West Virginia’s Attorney General is urging the federal government to establish a strategic electricity reserve, similar to the country’s petroleum reserve. Attorney General JB McCuskey says protecting the nation’s energy grid must be a top priority. McCuskey has joined attorneys general of several states in calling on the Department of Energy to establish the electricity reserve.

Western Maryland Lemonade New Distribution Facility

Protest Scheduled Saturday in LaVale

The nationwide “No Kings” movement has scheduled a protest event on National Highway for Saturday between 4 and 6 pm.  The event is slated to take place in the 800-900 block, in the area of the former Burkey’s Furniture.  Protestors will be on either side of the highway on the sidewalk.  The “No Kings” website describes the event as a mass, nationwide protest rejecting authoritarianism, billionaire-first politics, and the militarization of democracy.  It takes place the same day as a scheduled military parade for the 250th anniversary of the US Army in Washington DC.

Garden Tour Coming Next Week

McCutchen Passes Clemente on Pirate Homerun List in Bucco Win

Andrew McCutchen blasted a three run home run to left field Wednesday afternoon to pace the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 5-2 win over the Miami Marlins.  McCutchen's homer is his 241st as a Pirate, putting him in third place alltime on the Pirates' home run list, trailing only Willie Stargell and Ralph Kiner.  The PIrates went 6-3 on their homestand and now travel to Wrigley Field for a four game series with the Cubs.
