DISORDERLY CONDUCT ARREST

On Sunday, May 26, 2024 at approximately 8:40 AM, an officer with the Cumberland Police Department located a male subject creating a disturbance in the first block of Frederick Street.  The subject was identified as Tyler Dixon.  Dixon was yelling obscenities at passing cars.  The officer stopped to contact Dixon.  He then yelled at the officer.  The officer observed that there were bystanders in the area observing the disturbance.   Dixon was warned multiple times to stop creating a disturbance.  Dixon refused to listen to the officer’s orders.  He was placed under arrest and transported to Central Booking.  He was later…

CRIMINAL SUMMONSES SERVED

On Sunday, May 26, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department served criminal summonses on Onyka Crabtree and Madison MacDonald.  The summonses were issued as the result of an incident that occurred on May 13, 2024.  On this date at approximately 9:38 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the first block of Pennsylvania Avenue for a disturbance.  When officers arrived, they observed a large amount of the neighborhood residents observing the disturbance being created.  Onyka Crabtree and Madison MacDonald were two of the parties that were contacted during the disturbance.  After further investigation and review of video evidence, it…

Attorney General Morrisey Responds to Duke Letter Regarding His Opposition to Biden’s Red Flag Law Hub

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey on Thursday responded to a letter sent by the Duke Center for Firearms Law (Duke University School of Law) regarding Morrisey’s opposition to the establishment of the National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center—a hub formed by Biden’s Department of Justice to provide “assistance” to entities who implement laws confiscating firearms from those who purportedly pose a threat to themselves or others. Closures to note for Memorial Day

Some important closures to note for Memorial Day. Cumberland’s City Hall will be closed with no employees available.  Trash pickup will not occur on Monday in the city – those who have trash pickups on Monday will resume on Thursday. All county and state government offices, including schools will be closed for the holiday as well. Emergency services will operate normally.

Probation Violation Leads to Arrest

On Saturday, May 25, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department served a Circuit Court bench warrant on Branden Clark.  The warrant was issued as the result of Clark violating probation.  He was originally charged with CDS: Possession with the Intent to Distribute Narcotics.  Clark was arrested and transported to the Allegany County Detention Center where he is currently being held without bond pending his appearance before the court. Criminal Summons Served

On Saturday, May 25, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Steven Miller.  The summons was issued as the result of a private citizen filing for charges against Miller at the District Court of Allegany County.  Miller signed for his copy of the summons and he was released pending trial. Baltimore St. Grand Reopening set for November

The City of Cumberland, Cumberland Downtown Development Commission, and Cumberland Economic Development Corporation have announced the Grand Reopening Celebration for the Baltimore St. Revitalization Project will be on Thursday, November 14th at 11am, followed by a weekend of celebratory activities throughout the downtown area.

Allegany Softball Wins State Title

Allegany defeated Boonsboro, 9-1, Saturday to win the state title.  It's the second in three years for Allegany, which completed an unbeaten season.
