SHA Will Pave Portion of I-68

The Maryland State Highway Administration will begin a pavement patching project on westbound I-68 between Beall Street and Vocke Road on Monday, July 8. The patching project should be complete by July 25, weather permitting. Crews will work nightly 8pm to 6am. Drivers can expect alternating lane closures on westbound I-68. The SHA’s contractor, Belt Paving of Cumberland, will use electronic message boards, detour signs, barrels, and cones to guide motorists safely through the work zone.

New Maryland Board Has First Meeting

The inaugural meeting of Maryland Community Investment Corporation Board took place on Wednesday, marking the state's commitment to community and economic development. The board will draw crucial federal resources to invest in underserved communities across the state. Smallwood Street Burglar arrest

On Thursday, July 4, 2024, The Cumberland Police responded to a vacant business in the 100 block of S. Smallwood St. for the report of a suspicious subject. Upon arrival on scene, officers located the subject outside the business and identified him as Tyler Daniel Johnson, 34, of Cumberland MD. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that an exterior door on the property had been broken and was unsecure. Upon a search of the property, property belonging to Johnson was found inside. Baltimore Ave Trespassing arrest

On Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, The Cumberland Police responded to a residence in the 400 block of Baltimore Ave for a trespassing complaint. Upon arrival, officers located two subjects inside the property. It was then discovered that the property had been posted “unfit for human habitation” by the City of Cumberland, and that the subjects could not be on the property. As a result, Scott Tyler Levine, 37, and Brittany Alice Loscig, 26, were placed under arrest. Bench Warrants served

On Thursday, July 4th, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department arrested Joshua Michael Clark Sr, 29, of Cumberland MD. Clark was arrested on an active Bench Warrant issued by the Allegany County District Court on July 1st. The warrant alleges Clark failed to comply with an order of the court that had been placed upon him due to previous charges of theft, obstructing, and violating a protective order. He was taken before a District Court Commissioner for his Initial Appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held without bond. Bench Warrant Served

On Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department arrested Kylie Brooke Doll, 23, of New Creek WV. Doll was arrested on an active Bench Warrant issued by the Allegany County District Court on June 24th. On that date, it is alleged that Doll failed to appear in court on previous charge of driving on a suspended license.
