TRESPASSING ARREST
On August 23rd, 2023 at approximately 8:30 a.m. an officer from the Cumberland Police Department observed Anthony Clayton Talbert Sr. enter upon posted private property. CRIMINAL SUMMONS SERVED
On August 23rd, 2023 the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Lindsay Dawn Evensen. The summons was issued after an officer conducted an investigation of a theft that occurred on August 9th, 2023 on Queen City Drive. The officer then filed for charges at District Court. Evensen signed for her copy of the summons and was released pending trial at District Court. ACIT’s Economic Impact
News that the Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament has been placed on indefinite hiatus has affected more than basketball fans in the community. Over the years, the ACIT drew teams and people from ten states, the District of Columbia and Canada having an economic impact on the area. One local business that has been affected by the ending of the annual tournament is Printers Inc on Virginia Avenue. Divers Recover Body at Deep Creek Lake
Garrett and Preston County divers recovered the body of a man who drowned at Deep Creek Lake on Sunday. Natural Resources Police responded at approximately 5pm on Sunday to search for a man reported missing. The man was tubing on the lake, being towed by a boat when he fell from the tube. Divers recovered the body on Monday after an overnight search. The man was not wearing a lifejacket. The name of the deceased is being withheld by family request.
Healing Allegany Features ESPN Broadcaster
Healing Allegany is getting ready for Purple Fest this Saturday at Constitution Park. Governor Wes Moore delivered an address to those attending the Maryland Association of Counties meeting this past week in Ocean City. While he spoke in a guarded manner about the next fiscal year’s budget planning, he continues to be confident in the economic development plans for the state. MD Attorney General Will Release Updated Report
The Circuit Court for Baltimore City authorized the Office for the Attorney General to release a revised, un-redacted version of the Report on Child Sexual Abuse in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The new version of the report will be released in late September. The original report was released in April with over 30 names redacted or blacked out by order of the court to shield identities of ten alleged abusers who had not previously been publicly accused of child abuse. Water Pressure Issues Due to Reservoir Work
A caller to the Dave Norman program on Wednesday was concerned about low water pressure in the Frederick Street area. Citizens may have noticed that hydrants are being flushed throughout the city, also affecting water pressure. According to Robert Smith, City Engineer for Cumberland, the bleeding of the hydrants is being done in preparation for needed repairs to the Fort Hill reservoir at Constitution Park. Since the tank at Lake Gordon is at a higher elevation, the City needs to open the hydrants to stabilize the water pressure in the lines… Smith said the work on the reservoir should begin…
