West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin's wife Gayle is in hospital in Alabama following a car crash this morning. UPS Announces Job Cuts

The Epoch Times along with other news outlets is reporting that The United Parcel Service (UPS) on Tuesday announced 12,000 job cuts after reporting a decline in the volume of packages being shipped, coming months after the company came to an agreement with a top union to pay drivers higher wages. Officials with the shipping firm confirmed to several news outlets the number of job cuts, saying they represent fewer than 3 percent of the firm’s overall worldwide workforce. AG Brown Announces Settlement With Robinhood Financial

Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown’s Securities Division announced that it has joined a multistate settlement with Robinhood Financial LLC, which will pay up to $10.2 million in penalties for operational and technical failures that harmed Main Street investors.  The settlement stems from an investigation regarding Robinhood’s failures concerning the retail market. ENOUGH Act To Address Areas of Poverty

On Monday, Governor Wes Moore announced the “ENOUGH” initiative – legislation designed to give communities resources to identify the root causes of poverty in their neighborhoods and begin to address them. Allegany County Sheriff’s Office Arrest Report

Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and Maryland State Police combined resources to target open and active warrants. As a result, the following individuals have been apprehended. Monday, January 29, 2024 Christopher James Tabler, 33 and listed as Homeless, was served two (2) Bench Warrants. In District Court, he was wanted for Failure to Appear. His original charges include: Harboring a Felon/Fugitive, Obstruction and Hindering, and Obstruction of Justice. In Circuit Court Bench he was also wanted for Failure to Appear. Temporary water outage for North Centre Street on January 31st

The City of Cumberland Engineering Department, on behalf of Triton Construction, would like to notify the public of a temporary water outage on Wednesday, January 31st. Customers that will be affected include those fed from North Centre Street, between Baltimore Street and Frederick Street. CRIMINAL SUMMONS SERVED

On Monday, January 29, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Leon Corley.  The summons was issued as the result of an incident that occurred on January 26, 2024.  On this date, at approximately 9:53 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a disturbance at the health facility on Willowbrook Rd.  The subject causing the disturbance was identified as Leon Corley.  Corley was yelling and refusing to listen to police.  He also assaulted the staff members. Police filed charges against Corley at the District Court of Allegany County.  Corley refused to sign for his copy…

BENCH WARRANT SERVED

On Monday, January 29, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant on Kayla Glotfelty.  The warrant was issued as the result of Glotfelty failing to appear in court.  She was originally charged with driving without a license.  Glotfelty was arrested and transported to Central Booking.  She was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and released on her personal recognizance.
