Liberty Street To Remain Closed Today
Liberty Street will remain closed to thru traffic between Frederick Street and Pershing Street in order to perform repair and utility work. Signage will be in place to detour passenger vehicles around the road closure. During this time, local access to the parking lot for the Cumberland Arms will still be available.
Rolling Mill Project in Default
The city of Cumberland appears finally ready to move away from the current developer of the Cumberland Gateway project at Rolling Mill. No real progress has taken place since signing the deal with Edward Scott in 2017. A letter of default has been issued to the developer by the city. The future of the entire project is cloudy at best.
Disorderly Conduct Arrest at Jane Frazier village
On December 8th Officers from the Cumberland Police Department were called to the area of Jane Frazier village for a disturbance with possible firearms. Upon arrival Tyrone Lemar Oliver was located and advised the Officers he was in a disturbance with a resident. Tyrone stated he does not reside at Jane Frazier Village. There were no firearms located. Tyrone Lemar Oliver was told several times to not disturb the area and to keep the peace. South Street CDS Arrest
On December 8th Officers from the Cumberland Police Department (CPD) conducted a traffic stop in the teen block area on South Street. The traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle displaying expired registration. A CPD K9 was called to the scene which led to further investigation. Chelsea Erin Thomas was found to be in with possession of control dangerous substance. Chelsea Erin Thomas was transported to CPD headquarters where she was charged and written one Maryland Uniform Criminal Citation and one Maryland Traffic Citation before being released. Cumberland Winter Festival and Market
The First Annual Cumberland Winter Festival and Market at Canal Place Plaza from 5-9PM today. Orioles Reach Tentative Lease Agreement With State of Maryland
Amid swirling rumors of a team sale, the Baltimore Orioles have reached a tentative agreement with the State Of Maryland for a 30-year lease keeping the team at Camden Yards. Pending approvals from the Governor and other state officials, the agreement ends the "memorandum of understanding" that the Governor agreed to late this summer in the midst of the Orioles pennant race.

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey is urging consumers to exercise caution when evaluating credit card offers this holiday season. There is always an uptick in credit card offers with the holidays. While it may be tempting to take advantage of the “buy now, pay later” option, consumers should verify the credit card offer is legitimate. Deferred interest promotions may promise zero-percent interest through December 2024, but failure to pay off the entire balance by the promotion period’s end could stick the consumer with an interest charge dating back to the item’s original purchase date.
