Attorney General Brown Backs Local Gun Violence Prevention Laws in Amicus Brief

Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown today filed an amicus brief in Maryland Shall Issue, Inc., et al v. Montgomery County, Maryland supporting the right of Maryland counties to adopt local gun violence prevention laws. The lawsuit, brought by a gun rights advocacy group, challenges recently enacted Montgomery County laws that limit access by children to untraceable “ghost guns” and restrict possession of guns near sensitive locations in the county. On 09/07/23, members of the Allegany County Combined Warrant Unit located Randy Lee Iliff's street motorcycle on Woodside Avenue in Cumberland. Close to Iliff's motorcycle, an abandoned house was found to have been broken into. Iliff was located inside the abandoned house and placed under arrest without incident. Iliff was arrested on a Grand Jury Indictment for the following charges: CDS: Possess-Not Cannabis, CDS: Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotics, Rifle/Shotgun Possession-Disqualified Person, Regulated Firearm: Illegal Possession, Firearm Use/Felony-Violent Crime, CDS: Distribution ETC W/ Firearm, Firearm/Drug Trafficking Crime, Illegal Possession Ammunition, Assault Weapon/Magazine Use, and Possession Firearm Without Serial Number….

Cemetery Tours Highlight Unique Features

MARYLAND STATE POLICE ARREST MAN FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING AFTER CRASHING INTO MOPED IN WASHINGTON COUNTY

Maryland State Police arrested a man on impaired driving charges after a crash in which a moped was struck this evening in Washington County. The suspect, Joseph Donald Guessford III, 43, of Hagerstown, Maryland is charged with impaired driving and numerous traffic charges to include leaving the scene of personal injury collision.. He was transported to the Maryland State Police Hagerstown Barrack for processing before being released to the Washington County Detention Center. Additional charges are pending in the case. BURGLARY ARRESTS

On Thursday, September 7, 2023 at approximately 9:30 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence in the 800 block of Frederick Street in an attempt to locate suspects in a burglary case. The officers located two subjects who were identified as Aaron Long and Shawna Atwood. Officers determined that the subjects did not have permission to be at the residence. After further investigation, Long and Atwood were arrested and later transported to Central Booking. Long and Atwood were later seen by a District Court Commissioner for their bond hearings. Long posted a $2,000 unsecured personal bond….
