Budget And School Security To Be Discussed At School Board Meeting

Adopting a budget to present to the Allegany County Commissioners; while re-examining the school system’s security program are among the highlights on the agenda of tonight’s regular meeting of the Board of Education. The Superintendent submitted his budget to the board at a special meeting earlier this month- however the board took action to amend that proposal during a meeting two weeks ago. The action saw a proposal to hire five new teachers struck from the budget by a 3-2 vote. It also led to some debate. Also on the agenda: school security. A priority of board members Farrell, Wayne Foote and David Bohn has been to have a school resource officer in every school in the system- something that is not covered by the currently proposed budget; and to hire a Chief of Security. Farrell and board member Tammy Fraley agreed that additional officers are needed- but Fraley argues that quantity at the expense of quality would be an ill advised approach…

    you should hire all retired police officer s that are already getting a retirement check,that way they can double dip into the taxpayers,i m sure there s nobody in Cumberland that need s or has no job would mind,
