Commissioners may face legal challenge

A number of sources have confirmed to WCBC News that a former Allegany County employee who lost her job as a result of budget cuts this year- is planning on taking legal action against the Commissioners. In a series of budget-cutting moves, the Allegany County commissioners announced in May that they have eliminated or consolidated several county staff positions, including the position of county clerk, y Cathy Blank, had held the position of clerk since 2010, but served as assistant clerk for many years prior to that promotion- and indications are that she has retained legal council and is preparing to take the commissioners to court in an effort to get her job back. Since leaving the county in June,  Blank’s job duties have been divided among five other county employees. County Commissioner Bill Valentine said at the time, the action was in no way a reflection on Blank’s performance- but rather a case of the department becoming antiquated with today’s technology and ability to communicate online…
