County Creating New Marketing Grant

In an effort to move away from a process that often sees the same groups awarded funding each year simply as a matter of routine- the board of Allegany County Commissioners has created the Reinvestment Marketing Grant that will make a $25,000 grant available to nonprofits that can develop new marketing efforts for the region. Ashli Workman, the county’s tourism director, says that the program is designed to promote transparency, healthy competition, foster co-partnership throughout the county, while educating our community of the importance of hotel/motel tax being reinvested into programming and opportunities that generate tourism growth. The county is searching for organizations that can provide a program or service to enhance the local tourism experience, generate overnight stays, increase visitor spending in-county and enhance destination awareness.     Why beat a dead horse?
    Isn’t it Ashli Workman’s job, as county tourism director, to do just exactly what she plans to give grant money for?
    Read her comment above. Nothing but jargon and techno-babble. For example;…foster co-partnership throughout the county… A partnership consists of two or more individuals or groups. What is a co-partnership? Another way of saying the same thing but using more syllables where they aren’t needed.
