July 3rd, 2021 by WCBC Radio

The traditional Frostburg Elks Derby Day returns this year July 3 with the enthusiasm of 39 drivers waiting to start the races. Opening ceremony for the 44th annual event starts at noon with a parade of drivers down Main Street to the Elks Lodge.

Keith Harper will sing the national anthem with music provided by Wayne Conklin, master of ceremonies and race announcer. Mayor Robert Flanagan, Commissioner Kevin Grove and the Allegany County Commission for Women will pull the winning raffle ticket for the commission.

Miss Appalachia Allyson Wallace, Miss Heritage Days Kayla Steed, Miss Appalachia Outstanding Teen McClairen Eisenhower and Preston Fest Outstanding Teen Taylor Shay will be guest flaggers at the finish line.

The Elks is asking for donations of cleaning supplies to the Frostburg Interfaith Food Pantry and a collection box will be located at the Elks.

The Toasted Goat, B-Rad’s Pizza, Chicken Coupe and Rob Thompson’s Pit Beef vendors will be located in the Elks parking lot.
