The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has declared June 4, June 11 and July 4 to be Fish-For-Free Days.
Anybody can angle in the state's waters on those days without the need to have a fishing license.
Many states offer free fishing days in an effort to interest people enough in angling that they eventually purchase licenses.
Maryland's fishing licenses are now sold on a 365-day basis. In other words, a license sold on June 1 will be in effect through May 31 of the following year. This approach replaces the policy of selling fishing licenses good for a calendar year.
