Health Officials Attend Zika Virus Town Hall Meeting

Amid growing concerns among residents, Maryland health workers attended a Zika virus town hall on Wednesday. The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene meeting took  place at the agency's headquarters in Baltimore to educate health workers about the mosquito-borne virus.  The health department has declared April 24th to 30th as Zika Awareness Week and it will work to educate the public about the virus that has been linked to serious birth defects. Nearly 350 cases of Zika have been confirmed in the United States, including eight in Maryland.  Many Marylander’s  are turning to mosquito control companies to spray their yards and other potential trouble spots…
