On 9/19/21, at 6:30 pm, an officer from the Cumberland Police Department received a complaint that subjects were involved in the distribution of CDS in the area of Green Street.  Officers responded to the area and began to look for potential CDS distribution activity. While investigating the complaint, officers observed a subject identified as Drew Truman, age 30 of LaVale, involved in a CDS transaction.  Truman was then approached by officers and explained the reason they were contacting him. While officers were speaking with Truman, he produced a glass pipe containing a suspected controlled dangerous substance (CDS).  Upon the officer seeing the pipe, Truman threw the pipe at the officer and fled on foot.  After being told he was under arrest, and ordered to stop, Truman finally complied and walked back toward the officer. When the officer contacted Truman and attempted to take him into custody, he began struggling with the officer, and again fled on foot.  Officers again gave pursuit, and were finally able to get Truman into custody. When officers searched Truman incident to arrest, they located an amount of crystal methamphetamines and suboxone.  Subsequently, Truman was charged with CDS possession of crystal methamphetamine, CDS possession suboxone, CDS possession paraphernalia, assault 2nd degree, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.  Truman was later provided his initial appearance in District Court.  Following his hearing, he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on $5000 bond.
