On Saturday at approximately 8:30 PM, Cumberland City Police were dispatched to the 600 block of Baker Street for an assault in progress.
Officers arrived on scene and contacted the victim who advised they were strangled by Jerry Lee Brown. Officers observed injuries to the victim consistent with victim’s statement.
Brown had fled prior to police arrival but was located a short distance away and placed under arrest without issue.
Brown was taken before a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.
Arrested – Jerry Lee Brown (41) Cumberland, MD
Charges – Assault 1st Degree and Assault 2nd Degree
