On August 31, 2017, troopers from the Maryland State Police and deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff's Office conducted a joint criminal enforcement initiative throughout the Mount Savage areas to include Corriganville, Ellerslie, Barreleville, Zihlman, and Frostburg areas.
This initiative was conducted specifically to target criminal activity throughout those areas of Allegany County.
During this operation a total of 39 traffic stops were initiated leading to 2 CDS investigations. 6 K-9 deployments were made during this event leading to two (2) arrests. As a result of this initiative, information was developed through citizen contacts which will aid in several open criminal investigations to which both the State Police and the Sheriff's Office are currently investigating.
More joint operations between the Allegany County Sheriff's Office, Maryland State Police, and the Cumberland Police Department will be conducted in the near future in a continued effort to stop the drug flow into our community.
