Oldtown Fire Update

- Fire and EMS Units from three counties were dispatched to Oldtown just after 2 p.m. for a reported house fire. “First arriving units reported heavy fire conditions and additional fire departments were dispatched,” Todd Bowman, public information officer for Allegany County Department of Emergency Services said. 

 

Units responded to 16604 Mattie Lane, just off Cresap Mill Road at 2:10 p.m. and the fire was brought under control in approximately 45 minutes. 

 

“Incident command reported that the fire was controlled, but units were remaining in the scene for extensive overhaul,” Bowman said. 

 

Units from Oldtown, District 16, Baltimore Pike, Bedford Road, Bowman’s Addition, LaVale, Corriganville, Ellerslie, Cresaptown, Flintstone, Allegany County Department Emergency Services EMS Division from Maryland responded. Additional units from Mineral and Hampshire counties in West Virginia also responded. 

 

One person was evaluated on scene by EMS personnel but refused treatment, Bowman added. 

 

Maryland State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating.
