Police Serve Warrant on Assault

August 19th, 2021 by WCBC Radio

On Wednesday, August 18th, 2021 the Cumberland Police Department served a District Court warrant on Robert Eugene Whitacre III charging him with first degree assault, second degree assault, and reckless endangerment.  The warrant was issued in reference to an incident that occurred on August 2nd, 2021 at a Grand Avenue residence when police responded to assist the Cumberland Fire Department with a possible overdose.  When officers arrived, they learned by speaking with a female victim that she had actually been assaulted by Robert Eugene Whitacre to the point that made her black out and go into a seizure.  The female victim was transported to UPMC ER for treatment.  Whitacre could not be located at the time of the incident and an application for charges was filed with the District Court Commissioner’s Office.

Whitacre was also served an additional warrant issued by District Court for violating the conditions of his probation ordered by the court back in March, 2021 for a separate assault case.  He was taken before the District Court Commissioner and was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center held without bond.

Robert Eugene Whitacre III, age; 31, Cumberland, Maryland.
