The annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and the arrival of Santa on the downtown mall will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2013. Due to the large number of citizens in attendance some changes have been made to increase the safety of those attendees. Starting at 5:00 p.m. there will be no parking allowed on both Centre and Liberty Streets from Frederick to Dexter Place. Signs will be posted to remind citizens of this restriction. Both Centre and Liberty Streets will be closed to through traffic at 6:00 p.m. with Centre Street being closed at Union Street and Liberty Street being closed at the entrance to the municipal parking lot so this lot can be utilized by the public. The Santa Parade will take place on Centre Street with the participants lining up on Frederick Street to Butler Alley, if needed. This area will be coned off, but the motoring public is asked to use caution in this area from 6:00 p.m. until the area is clear.
