Lack of Western Maryland Vaccination Frustrating to Hogan
More than a year after COVID-19 shots became available in Maryland- Allegany and Garrett counties fully vaccinated populations remain below 50%. Respectively, Garrett and Allegany have the two lowest vaccination rates in the state. It is a point of both concern and frustration for Governor Larry Hogan who has overseen a COVID program with vaccination rates that are among the highest in the nation. While not signaling out Allegany or Garrett counties when commenting publicly, Hogan routinely does make mention of those Marylanders who he says are ignoring the science…
Union Rescue Relocation Stalled with Neighborhood Opposition
Talks to find a new location for the Union Rescue Mission began more than three years ago- and although a potential site was identified late last year- immediate push back from the neighborhood has stalled those efforts. Mission representatives, headed by Reverend David Ziler, say they have outgrown their current facility at a time when requests for their services are increasing. The mission is currently located at 16 Queen City Pavement along the CSX railroad tracks- a site that the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation has identified as a prime location for future economic development. In September, the Columbia Building, a…

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan held a press conference Monday afternoon, telling reporters he would be pushing a major effect to get more funding to state police agencies during the 2022 session of the General Assembly.
